Breakfasts at Home

I just had to write a breakfast post, because with the advent of my new job I am finally able, for the first time in years, to have breakfast at home. I know this may seem an overly simple thing about which to generate so much hype, but after years of breakfast taking place in my car, balanced in my lap, while driving a 1 to 2 hour commute to work in the dark, or occurring at 1AM in the middle of an all-night shift, and really perhaps then being dinner and not quite breakfast at all, the concept of being able to actually compose a morning meal, and then enjoy this lovely first culinary experience of the day quietly in the peace of my own home, makes me ridiculously, disproportionately happy. These breakfasts I've photographed so joyously are nothing out of the ordinary, I suppose, but I wanted to share the simple pleasures of breakfasts in our home nonetheless...

Frozen berries with a mixture of plain and blueberry low-fat kefir...

a big jumble of scrambled EggBeaters egg whites with Cajun spices and shredded carrots...

Egg white omelet with veggies and low-fat cheese, with whole wheat toast...

dreamy gorgeous loose-leaf earl gray tea...

and my personal favorite, chai-spiced oatmal with figs and plain low-fat kefir!

Is there a simple pleasure in your morning routine? :-)
